at oon we understand that data privacy and internet shopping security of are of the utmost importance and we use the latest technology and practices to ensure that you can trust us with your data.
for the full terms of our security and data privacy procedures please check the privacy policy section. if you don’t like to read through the legal jargon, here’s the digested version:
the only information we will ever ask from you is the basic data we need to process, deliver and bill your order;
you can access your account to edit or delete your personal data at any time;
if you choose to delete your account we will still have to keep some of that data for legal and tax reasons (it will be on the invoices we have issued in the past, for instance);
we won’t share any of your data with any third parties, unless we have to in order to satisfy a particular request, and even then we will only do so with your explicit permission;
if you tick the box where you actively allow us to email you about promotional offers we will only be telling you about our own offers and not offers coming from third parties.
we use the most advanced anti-online fraud technologies to minimise misuse of credit card information. on top of that we don't store any credit card or debit card details to avoid data being stolen or misplaced.
secure server
oon online store uses industry-standard encryption to protect the confidentiality of the data you submit during checkout. when you submit order and payment details to us, we use 128-bit Extended Validation Secure Socket Layer (EV SSL) encryption to protect that information in transit. With SSL technology, the web address starts with "https://" instead of "http://" to indicate that your information is encrypted during transmission.
secure socket layer (SSL) security
SSL is a protocol that secures the connection between your Internet browser and our secure Internet server. messages containing credit card or debit card information are also encrypted, meaning such data is inaccessible to unauthorised parties.
the use of the SSL protocol significantly reduces the risk of data being intercepted as it travels over the Internet.
oon's privacy protection standards are certified by the Thawte(R) Trusted Site Seal.
3-D secure
3D Secure is an extra layer of security for transactions over the internet which require the card holder to provide a personal password or pin number when purchasing goods online with their credit card. Visa refers to this scheme as Verified by Visa and MasterCard refers to it as MasterCard SecureCode.
to use this service the cardholder must register their card with their issuing bank. the cardholder sets up a password or pin number and their security code, which will be used each time they pay online with their credit card.
how does 3-D secure works?
once the card holder enters their credit card details on our system, the system automatically checks with 3D secure scheme to verify whether the credit card in question is enrolled with the scheme. if the credit card is with a participating bank, the card holder will be taken to the card issuer’s secure website where they will enter their security code. the payment then resumes normally, and the cardholder is redirected back to the confirmation page.
despite these series of tight security measures it is worth stating that there is always a degree of risk with online payments. however we can assure you that the risk is negligible and much lower than using your credit card on the high street.
